The only brewery I can remember was the Northants ( & Leics ) Clubs Brewery. It was located in Charnwood Street.
As the name suggests, it supplied the working mens clubs in the area. It was there for many years and my dad worked there for a while in the '20s
I left Leicester in 1954 but seem to remember it still being there then.

Ansells brewery was present in the 60s in Leicester. Cannot recall any other locally brewed beer.

Is not Everards Brewery still not on the go?  Perhaps a naive question but I now live about forty miles from the city so not as in touch as perhaps I should be.  When I was stationed at Glen Parva in 1954 a number of us were kindly invited to their employees' annual social and booze up.  Great night as I recall.

The 'Jolly Miller' on Conduit Street (now demolished), was an Ansell's pub.
Leicester breweries open in the 1960's included -
Everards (then on Southgates - now at Castle Acres)
Tom Hoskins (Beaumanor Road)
Leicester Brewing & Malting Co. (better known as the Eagle Brewery, Charnwood Street)
(having been bought out by Ansells, the Eagle brewery continued as a bottling plant into the 60's).
Northampton & Leicestershire Clubs Brewery (Syston Street - name changed to Midland Clubs Brewery in 1960 but
closed in 1969).

Nice to know Polar that Everards are still on the go.  We used to imbibe in "The Railway" in Wiggy Magna which was a Shipstones house.  Must admit it would take a lot to beat a glass of Shippos!
