Tina the brain has kicked in today, the Bell, when it closed my dear old dad, enterprising he was had bought numerous parts for salvage, I am sure it must have been the BELL, same location.
He salvaged the cooling plant, and sold it to the workingmens club near Vestry street. Now Vestry Street swimming baths, what a place. We use to spend hours in the baths, the chap in charge Jack use to let us stay longer than we should, but we had to scrub all around the tiled edges, so kind of him, smart chap.
A small pool existed for the girls, very Victorian it was but if it still stood, what a gem it would be today. My friend in Aus rememebers when we dyed all the baths black, we some how got hold of this powder in small containers, we dived in with this in our hands , swam under water and released. Lived on that story for years at School.
