Westcotes Drive 1940
« on: 13:17:34, 28/01/08 »

Hello to all the LeicesterForum posters - this is my first post!

My father was born in a nursing home at Westcotes Drive in October 1940.

Can anyone provide me with any information about this establishment, including whether any records survive and, if so, where I might find them?

Sorry can not help you with any info for this other than to try the Leicestershire Records office in Wigston Magna, but I was born at Wescotes Drive maternity home in 1971.  I would be interested in looking at any info for the 70's.

I was born in Westcotes Maternity Home too. As it is a medical establishment records will be closed for 100 years thought. The building was originally the home of the Harris family who funded the building of the church of the Martyrs, Westcotes Library and who sold land to build the houses or the Narborough Road area on. Look up Harris family and Church of the Martyrs history to learn more perhaps.
