Searching for family, Swan with two necks
« on: 08:11:03, 01/08/20 »
Hello everyone.  I had two uncles who were in Leicester from just after the war until the 1980s.  They were from Co. Mayo and worked in construction , primarily I think in concrete.  One was Anto McDonnell and his brother was Tom McDonnell. I know Anto died and is buried in Ireland.  Tom married, I think his wife was Mary and they had 2 or 3 children one of whom may have taught in the school system.. Their pub was the swan with two necks on Granby street I believe (could their be more than one with that name in Leicester?)  I'd appreciate any help that I can get.

I canít help on the people you are looking for but the Swan with 2 Necks was 52 Granby Street and shut in 1959. Earliest reference to the pub was 1777 and was an old coaching inn.
