The Musical Union, 1853:
The picture of the Leicester-born musician John Ella (1802-1888) holding a quill is from the 1853 Musical Union one. Note: the union was not like a workers union. It was a gathering of singers and musicians for concert practise, resulting in improvment of music during the 19th century.

Another similar coat-of-arms for the ELLA family:
Blazon is: Sable (black) a fess dancetty Or (gold) surmounted (in chief) of 3 fleur-de-lis Argent (silver).
Note: the dancetty and 3 fleur-de-lis all in Or (gold) would have been more appropriately in use with the field-background Sable (black).

For other Ella family grave headstones go to: http://www.findagrave.com and then click "Search 83 million grave records". In the 3 name searchboxes type William Prince Ella and select "England" for the country. Click below that. View the first listed. To view other family member's memorials then click "Raymond E.O.Ella", etc..

The musician John Ella knew Adolphe Sax (1814-1894) the inventor of the Saxophone, John having visited him and his wife in Paris.
Picture of Mr.Sax (one of 3 same others known) courtesy of the Ella family.
